
There have been several new musicians to join the Asheville Symphony this season.
The Asheville Symphony Orchestra recently held auditions for 8 permanent positions as well as substitute positions in all sections for the current season. More than 100 people auditioned over a four-day period, and as a result, there will be several new musicians joining the Asheville Symphony for the 2006-2007 season.
Young-Joo Yoo, principal flute, is a recent graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and is starting her professional career with the Asheville Symphony.
Kathi Jo Bryant, one-year acting oboe III/English horn, is a freelance musician playing with several orchestras along the east coast.
Michael Burns, principal bassoon, is bassoon professor at University of North Carolina-Greensboro.
Anneka Zuehlke, French horn III, is also principal horn for the Greenville Symphony Orchestra.
Travis Bennett, Horn IV, is the new horn professor at Western Carolina University.
Amy Lovinger, principal 2nd violin, is new to the Asheville area and is also principal 2nd violin at the Brevard Philharmonic.
