The 15 finalists’ names and contribution stories are available to vote on today at www.microsoft.com
After announcing the awards in mid-September, Microsoft and the USO received hundreds of nominations and have narrowed them down to three finalists in each of the five categories.
“We were amazed at the outpouring of nominations, and would like to congratulate all the finalists — they exemplify the spirit of what the Microsoft Above and Beyond Awards are all about,” said Curt Kolcun, vice president of the federal division at Microsoft.
Microsoft and the USO are urging people to visit www.microsoft.com by Oct. 29 to vote for winners in each of the following categories:
• Outstanding effort in supporting our troops
• Dedication to providing superior medical attention to the wounded and injured
• Outstanding impact and success in generating promotional support of the USO
• Making a difference to improve the quality of life of service members
• Youth leaders who champion and represent outstanding support for our troops
“These are extraordinary stories that show what a difference one person can make,” said Elaine Rogers, president of the USO of Metropolitan Washington. “Our dream is that these individuals will inspire others to show unique ways of support for our service members and their families in the years to come.”
Winners will travel to New York for an awards gala and a special showing of the 75th Annual Celebration of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular on Nov. 12.-Microsoft
