Levon Ter Petrosyan just announced his candidacy at an opposition rally in the capital of Armenia Yerevan. This information is according to A1+ that closely follows the rally of the opposition political members in Yerevan.
This announcement was highly anticipated, but experts doubted that Ter Petrosyan will not run for presidency unless he knows that he can win.
However, his support in Armenia is not widespread because people blame Ter Petrosyan for weak management of the government, the start of wide-spread corruption and for all the misdeeds of today's social life.
Supporters of Levon Ter-Petrosyan say that he won the liberation war that was posed on Armenia by neighboring Azerbaijan and lead Armenia to true independence, making the country a regional leader.
The presidential elections will take place in Armenia next year in 2008 and it may be that Levon Ter Petrosyan will become opposition's united candidate in the elections.
