There's no party like a Hillary Clinton party. At least that's what attendees of Clinton's 60th birthday must have thought, spending a whopping $1.5m just to get in the door.

Mrs. Clinton used the milestone tactfully last night, bringing in the big 60 with a grand scale bash in Manhattan. Tickets for the Beacon Theater event cost between 100 and 2,300, reports Reuters, the maximum under campaign financing laws.

The star studded event featured live performances by the Wallflowers and Elvis Costello who sang “happy birthday Mrs. President,” a rendition of Marilyn Monroe's birthday serenade for JFK.

Comedian Billy Crystal was also featured performing a stand up act, and former President Bill Clinton introduced Hillary speaking on the couples beginnings at Yale.

The event, half party, half fund raiser, had no shortage of political commentary. Clinton, who is currently ahead in the polls with a 25 percent lead over her closest rival Obama, used the opportunity to again denounce the Bush administration and deliver her platform lines.

"We are going to have a lot of work to do,” Mrs. Clinton said in a speech at the party. “We are going to reclaim the future for our children and our country."
