World Renowned Marionettes Perform At Fulton Opera

For over ninety years, Salzburg Marionette Theatre has thrilled and delighted audiences around the world. As part of the company's US tour, the Salzburg Marionettes will bring their world renowned artistry and talent to Lancaster in November, launching the Fulton Family Theatre 2007-08 Season with a brand new 90-minute production of Rogers & Hammerstein's The Sound of Music.

Founded in Salzburg, Austria in 1913, the Salzburg Marionette Theatre has enchanted children and adults with puppetry performances of Mozart’s opera masterpieces, intricately crafted marionettes and lavish, fairy-tale like settings. Now, the greatest marionette theatre in the world takes on the world's most beloved musical, The Sound of Music.

The Salzburg Marionettes perform to a soundtrack featuring the voices of Broadway stars Christiane Noll, Martin Vidnovic and Lancaster's own Jonathan Groff (Broadway: Spring Awakening; Fulton & US Tour: The Sound of Music; Fulton: Cyrano, Peter Pan) as the voice of Rolf.

"It is a bit of scheduling serendipity that we were able to book this amazing troupe," says Fulton Managing Director Aaron Young. "The Salzburg Marionettes happened to have a week between their bookings at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia and an engagement in Baltimore. We are proud to be able to bring these extraordinary performers to Fulton audiences."

Performances are November 13th through 16th at 7 p.m. at the Fulton Theatre, 12 North Prince Street in Downtown Lancaster. Ticket prices are $35 for Orchestra and Parquet Circle, $30 for Mezzanine, and $20 for Gallery seating.

Upcoming Fulton Family Theatre performances are: Lazer Vaudeville (January 4th & 5th, 2008), Macbeth: Blood-In, Blood-Out (February 22nd & 23rd, 2008), Bocón! (March 28th & 29th, 2008), and Sowing the Wind (April 25th & 26th, 2008). -- www.atthefulton.org
