Republican Washinton state legislator, Richard Curtis, resigned his seat today following a sex scandal which began at a Spokane adult video store.
Curtis, 48, told police he was the victim of extortion after he met a man, Cody Castagna, at a Spokane Hollywood Erotic Boutique, and had sex with him in his hotel room.
The legislator said that Castagna took his wallet from his Davenport Tower hotel room Friday, and wanted 1,000 to get it back. Castagna asserts that Curtis had offered to pay him for sex, then went back on his word.
Curtis was in Spokane as part of a Republican lawmakers retreat. County Republican leaders will choose a successor to serve until the 2008 election following the resignation.
Married with children, Curtis has voted against same sex civil rights protection in the past, and denied that he was gay last week in a local newspaper interview.
“This has been damaging to my family,” Curtis said in statement released today, “I don't want to subject them to any additional pain that might result from carrying out this matter under the scrutiny that comes with holding public office.”

Why is this even news? By now it should be clear to everyone that deep inside of every Republican resides a homosexual who is just screaming to get out. It is no secret that Republicans have inner demons deep within their jingoistic conservative closets that are far worse then any of the things they try to acuse Democrats of. Basically...consider all the things that the Republican Party claims to be for and you will discover that the party is only good a producing politicians who are the total opposite of their ideology. One need not look any further then their daddy little hitler bush to realize that the Republican Party is not a party that is of, for or by the people.
