Friday Nights Are Live At Detroit Orchestra

New this season, every Friday night performance at the Max M. Fisher Music Center will be followed by a free, post-concert afterglow party. Taking place in rotating spaces throughout the building, "Friday Night Live" will offer live and/or deejayed music in a relaxed atmosphere. Dessert, coffee and bar service will be available at discounted happy hour prices.

These will provide patrons with an ideal setting for post-concert socializing and they will also have the opportunity to meet and mingle with members of the DSO.

"Our Friday night audiences are a bit different demographically than those that come on other nights," says Ross Binnie, DSO Vice President for Sales and Service. "Many want to make an 'event' out of the evening, and they will typically stay late for artist CD signings or Green Room activities. We decided to expand on this option for those people that want to enjoy the social aspect, talk about their experience at the concert, and perhaps meet a musician from the DSO. The atmosphere will be fun and informal. This offers more added value for our customers."

Upcoming groups featured at "Friday Night Live" gatherings will include ensembles from DSO's Civic youth jazz ensembles, as well as local musical groups. Groups can apply to appear by sending an audition tape to the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. -- www.detroitsymphony.com
