United Nations envoy Ibrahim Gambari has arrived in Burma for talks on reform with the country's military rulers. Burmese officials say he will travel directly to the administrative capital Naypyidaw.
They say Mr Gambari will meet the Information Minister and representatives from local non-governmental organisations.
It is the envoy's second visit to Burma since the military junta's bloody crackdown on anti-government protests in late September.
Amid international outrage over the violence, Mr Gambari is attempting to push the junta towards a genuine dialogue with the opposition party of detained democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi. © 2007 Australian Broadcasting Corporation
