Nintendo UK has unveiled six stars of stage, screen and TV as the latest celebrities to pick up their Nintendo DS and showcase the unique Touch! Generations range of software only available for Nintendo’s handheld console.

Patrick Stewart (Brain Age 33), Julie Walters (Brain Age 59), Phillip Schofield (Brain Age 45), Fern Britton (Brain Age 43), Zoe Ball (Brain Age 42) and Johnny Ball (Brain Age 45) will appear in new outdoor, print and TV advertising campaign on 30 October playing Nintendo DS titles including, ‘Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain?’, Big Brain Academy, Tetris DS and ‘ My Word Coach*’ amongst others.

In the first of the TV adverts, regular ‘Brain Trainer’ Patrick Stewart can be seen helping and advising Julie Walters on the best way to lower her Brain Age as she picks up the software for the very first time. In another, Patrick and Julie can be seen competing to see who has the better grasp of the English language in Ubisoft’s My Word Coach , a title that allows you to improve your vocabulary and develop your ability to express yourself with confidence & persuasion.

Phillip Schofield and Fern Britton will appear across the UK in outdoor, print and television advertising where their brain ‘weights’ and ‘types’ will be revealed to the nation. Big Brain Academy is the fun new brain quiz game from the people who brought you Brain Training, but rather than giving you a traditional ‘Brain Age’, Big Brain Academy calculates your performance in the five key mental areas of ‘Thinking’, ‘Memory’, ‘Identification’, ‘Compute’ and ‘Analysis’ to give your brain a ‘weight’ and a ‘type’ based on over 30 different occupations from ‘Art Expert’ and ‘Banker’ to ‘Airline Pilot’ and ‘Caveman’!. In another of the adverts, Phillip and Fern can also be seen replicating their natural on-screen chemistry as they try to solve the mystery of Hotel Dusk: Room 215 and go head to head in the classic Tetris.

Father and daughter Johnny and Zoe Ball will appear in outdoor, print and television adverts competing in classic games including solitaire and checkers, just two of the classic games included in 42 All Time Classics, part of Nintendo’s Touch! Generations range, only on Nintendo DS. In the second advert, we watch Johnny enjoying himself and he relaxes and exercises his eyes with Sight Training. Sight Training is the latest title from the people who brought you Brain Training, the software allows you to enjoy relaxing and exercising your eyes by testing up to five visual abilities including peripheral and momentary vision.

As icons of British stage and screen, all were natural choices in light of their appeal to a wide range of audiences old and young creating an affinity with the brand. Nintendo prides itself on creating entertainment and experiences that enrich people’s lives, no matter what their age or previous gaming experience.

Nintendo's 'Touch! Generations' range is a collection of software for the Wii console and the Nintendo DS handheld system that offers a variety of unique and accessible ways to play. Touch! Generations titles can help you train your brain, play sudoku, become a doctor, make music or connect with people thousands of miles away. They can be enjoyed on those quiet moments for yourself, or together with the whole family.

Patrick Stewart comments: “Getting my Brain Age down to 33 has become a fascinating and stimulating way to relax between performances, I’m really enjoying the range and depth of the challenges Brain Training gives me.”

Julie Walters added: “Brain Training is a great way to help me keep sharp, whether it’s 20 minutes before you go on stage or five minutes before you go to bed at night, it’s a great way test your grey matter in a fun and intuitive way.”

Phillip Schofield comments: “Big Brain Academy is great fun, it’s amusing to think that I could have been a composer if I hadn’t been a presenter. I’ve yet to trounce Fern, but it’s only a matter of time.”

Fern Britton adds: "I'm not a very techno person, but I have grown to love my DS. It's really very simple to use, but fiendish when you get going"

Johnny Ball said: “Chequers is my game, no one comes close to beating me. It’s great to be able to replay all the classic games from years ago so easily either on your own or with friends and family.”

Zoe Ball added: “My Nintendo DS goes everywhere with me, with 42 All-Time Classics I have all my favourites in one place.”

Dawn Paine, Marketing Director of Nintendo UK comments “Our Touch! Generations titles have really struck a chord with people across the UK who want to train their brains, help to exercise their eyes or simply play sudoku. As renowned and respected actors and presenters, who better to demonstrate the benefits and fun of Touch! Generations software.” -Nintendo
