New Zealand Stock Exchange Capital Raised

Total capital raised on New Zealand Stock Exchange Markets has passed $4.5 billion, already ahead of the $4.2 billion total raised in 2006 with two months still remaining in the year.

Total capital raised in October was $1.405 billion. The listing of $900 million of debt securities by Rabobank and a $200 million Origin Energy listing saw over a $1 billion of capital raised on the New Zealand Stock Exchange in a week.

There was $299 million of equity raised in October with the New Zealand Stock Exchange Market listing of Opus International Consultants, as well as a significant amount of secondary capital raised by existing NZX Listed Issuers including Infratil, Comvita and Ebos Group.

These debt and equity issues helped push average daily trades up 12% in October to 2,440.

New Zealand Stock Exchange Products Group Manager, Geoff Brown said, “We have seen increased activity in both the debt market and secondary capital raisings from our New Zealand Stock Exchange Listed companies in 2007, which are both very positive trends.”

Another milestone in October was the number of NZX real-time data terminals passing 10,000 for the first time. There are now 10,103 terminals worldwide.
