The babies were born by c-section, with John delivered first at 1:54 pm, and Lucy close behind at 1:55 pm. Dad David told People
The babies are doing fine. Our little girl is doing just as well as her brother despite her weight –- and mom is doing great.
The twins, who were due in this month according to what Nancy has said on her show (although media outlets report differently), were delivered early due to Nancy developing a pulmonary edema during her pregnancy. Pulmonary edema causes fluid to build or swelling in the lungs. Nancy's rep released the following statement,
Her physician determined it would be best for Nancy, and for the twins, to deliver them [on Sunday]. Lucy Elizabeth, John David, and their proud parents are now resting comfortably. The babies will be in the hospital for awhile, and Nancy should be leaving the hospital in a few days.
Nancy announced the pregnancy in June, and the sexes of the babies in September.

Nancy Grace, Congratulations on the birth of your twin babies. I am sure you and your husband are just ecstatic about the babies. I watch your show every night and appreciate what you talk about on T.V.! Again congratulations on the birth of your precious angels. You and your husband picked out spectacular names for your children. I love their names. Take care of yourself and family.

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!! Make every minute count - grow up so fast. Had a daughter at 44 which was quite a surprise. Had a total of three sons previously who were all still barely teenagers when she was born and one of my sons is adopted (which is undescribable happiness in itself). Was always told that pregnancy would not be possible and after each of the biological sons were born (11 mths apart) which were very problematic pregnancies that future pregnancies would be impossible and had a miscarriage thereafter but someone 'up above' had different plans. My adopted son and all the family has met his birthmother and her family which is very positive - just has become a very extended family. Am a grandparent of three now of my adopted son which after all my children is just as exciting. The above daugher is grown already and hopefully just about to get her degree (if you can ever get her intership) from TX A&M like her brothers but all the memories seem like just 'yesterday'.
Congratulations for the birth of your babies, you are a fantastic role model.
