
Broward Sheriff's Office released a media alert that the Sheriff's Deputy is shot at a Pompano Beach gas station this morning. A possible suspect is named.
The BSO Office of Media Relations is currently working a developing incident regarding a deputy shot located at: Powerline & Hammondville Rd. Pompano Beach.
Public Information officer Elliot Cohen is currently gathering the details. Here's what we know so far:
Update: Media staging area is at the Chevron gas station on the corner of Powerline Rd. and MLK. The possible suspect is Michael Mazza a white male with dob 11/28/66. Pompano Beach BSO units responded to a report of a jail transport deputy shot at the above location. He was transported to North Broward Medical Center by Pompano Beach Fire Rescue. Possibly missing are the deputy's weapon and the jail transport van. ALL INFORMATION WILL ONLY BE DISSEMINATED FROM THE SCENE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
A BSO public information officer will be on scene at approximately: 8:30 AM.

The media staging area is at the Chevron gas station on the corner of Powerline and Hammondville (MLK).
Investigators from several agencies continue to search for a 2005 Ford marked BSO medical transport van. The unit number is 4473. The van has strobes on the top, front and rear. It looks like an ambulance with BSO markings.
The suspect is 40-year-old (dob 11/28/66) white male Michael Mazza. It's believed he has the deputy's weapon.
Suspect Mazza was being transported to court regarding a Coconut Creek robbery case. He was last seen wearing a charcoal colored suit with a white shirt and black necktie. A witness saw the BSO deputy thrown from the medical unit at 1401 North Powerline Rd in Pompano Beach at approximately 8:11 a.m. The deputy, whose name has not been released, was transported to North Broward Medical Center in very critical condition.
A BSO public information officer will be on scene at approximately: 8:30 AM.
