The New Haven Symphony Orchestra’s Family Concerts return! After a hiatus of more than 15 years, we have reinstituted these concerts so that families can introduce their children to the joys and wonders of orchestral music.
NHSO Music Director William Boughton remarked, “For countless generations Family Concerts have been a child’s first encounter with live orchestral music. We are delighted to provide this opportunity once again.”
The concerts are fun and instructive and you can join in! Each 45 minute musical adventure is preceded by a 30 minute, hands on, pre-concert activity. Concerts are recommended for children ages 3-12 years of age and their families. “The Family Concert Series is a wonderful way for the NHSO to extend our reach into the community and promote family-based learning,” notes NHSO Director of Education, Stephen Collins.
The series consists of three concerts:
CONCERT # 1: Saturday, November 10th, 2pm, Omni Hotel Ballroom, 155 Temple Street, New Haven. The opening concert of the series, Water, Water, Everywhere features members of the NHSO woodwind section. Enjoy an imaginative journey on the world’s waterways from London to Egypt.
