Boston Celtics Advance to 5-0 In Standings

The Boston Celtics beat New Jersey Nets 112-101 to improve there statistics to 5-0, and the only undefeated team in the NBA currently.

Celtic's victory came hours after Doc Rivers visited his father's funeral near Chicago. Grady Alexander Rivers Sr., a retired Chicago police officer, died last week at age 76.

“I needed this more than anybody,” Doc Rivers said.

According to the Guardian Unlimited, "The 5-0 Celtics are off to their best start since going 6-0 in 1987-88, when Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish led the way. The 2008 version of the Big Three -- Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen -- have Boston firing on all cylinders."

During the game, Vince Carter star player of the New Jersey Nets sprained his ankle.

"That injury definitely hurts, whenever you step on somebody's foot," said Jason Kidd, who led a garbage-time rally that brought the Nets to within eight with 1:41 left before it fizzled. "There's no way that Vince could have prevented that after dunking the ball. It's just one of those freak accidents. It could be severe, it could be mild. We'll see here in the next couple days."
