
New Brunswick’s State Theatre presents Dance from the Caucasus on Saturday, November 10 at 8pm. A celebration of the heritage and cultures that make up the various states and provinces of Russia, Dance from the Caucasus is a mesmerizing display of dance, song, acrobatics, and live music.
Tickets range from $30-50 (student, senior, and group discounts apply, plus limited *$20 tickets).
Directed by Anatoli Kvasov, the program will include classic Georgian dances, dances from Abkhasia, Adjarian folk dances, and more.
Many of the dances reflect the importance of family in Russian culture, as they are performed in couples, often with the men competing for the women and engaging in impressive battles of physical demonstrations and complex movements.
Dance from the Caucasus promises to enlighten audiences to the haunting melodies, fantastic rhythms, and the excitement of the traditional dances from this region in an accessible and mesmerizing display thoroughly updated to exhibit that these traditions live on in the modern day.
