One of the longest standing and accomplished soul bands perform at the Queen’s Theatre in Barnstaple on Thursday 29 November, at 7.45pm.

Hailing from Philadelphia, the band was formed in the late 60s when two groups merged together. Soon they were working with the legendary producer Thom Bell and together they became one of the leading Philly Sound soul groups of the 70s.

With their charisma, style and harmonies they notched up an amazing twelve consecutive top ten hits. Their emphasis on smoother, sweeter ballads made them the antithesis of many of their popular contemporaries. Their tempo and style would vary effortlessly with each song. The Stylistics had carved themselves a reputation as the premier soul group of that time, and at their peak, were perhaps the most consistent hit makers in soul music.

With a line up featuring original members (Airrion Love and Herb Murrell), and new faces (Van Fields and Eban Brown), The Stylistics perform all their best loved hits including, You Are Everything, Betcha by Golly Wow, Break Up to Make Up, and You Make Me Feel Brand New. -- www.northdevontheatres.org.uk
