The celebrated Carducci Quartet will perform with clarinettist Sarah Williamson at the Queen’s Theatre, Barnstaple on Friday 30 November, at 7.30pm.

The Carducci Quartet are two married couples, Matthew and Emma Denton (violin and cello), and Eoin Schmidt-Martin and Michelle Fleming (viola and violin). They have been prize winners in no less than six International Chamber Music competitions in four years making them one of Europe’s top young string quartets. Whether playing music by modern composers or past masters, they tackle both with equal energy. With their performances, they have gathered a reputation for rich, sumptuous and well-balanced sounds.

Joining them will be BBC Young Musician of the Year finalist, Sarah Williamson. Having studied at the Purcell School of Music and The Royal Academy of Music, Sarah went on to study in Paris where she graduated with Premier Prix and a ‘Laureate’, the highest honour. She has toured all over the world, performing with the likes of the Sacconi Quartet, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and appearances at Wigmore Hall, Kings Lynn and Warwick festivals.

The programme will include Mozart’s masterpiece for clarinet and strings, Clarinet Quintet, along with Haydn’s The Frog and Dvorak’s American. -- www.northdevontheatres.org.uk
