Bring your friends to the Party

Although you don’t need friends to play the board and mini-games of Mario Party DS, there’s nothing that fires up the competitive spirit than trouncing someone in person. The wireless capabilities of the Nintendo DS give you a simple way to share your glory as a Superstar at the expense of others.

All you need is one Mario Party DS Game Card to challenge your friends to one of the many multiplayer games housed in the Card. Each other player simply needs his or her own DS to tap into the fun with DS Download Play.

To start the competition, the host goes to the Multiplayer option to search for other players. The challengers engage the DS Download Play on their DSes, which takes about 15 seconds to complete. The host then chooses the game options, and the competition begins.

Unlike some games that exclude some features from multiplayer play, Mario Party DS lets players choose from all the options and features available in the single-player experience. Plus, the game features two two-player games available only through wireless play.

Through wireless gameplay, you can play the Mario Party DS board games from Party Mode, all the mini-game challenges from the single-player game and puzzle games. (Please note that you need to unlock the mini-games in the single-player Story Mode in order to make them available in multiplayer.)

Party Mode lets you and up to three friends compete on the five unique game boards. You are able to play as teams, as individuals or in a two-player duel, and you can set handicaps to aid less experienced players.

Two players can go head-to-head in the several games in Puzzle Mode. Each Puzzle Mode game is available to play, each one with its own win condition. Sometimes you’ll need to be speedy to reach a point goal; other times you will force another player’s blocks to the top of the screen.

Also for two players is the wireless-exclusive Extras Mode. This mode contains two two-player games - one competitive and one cooperative. In Desert Duel, you try to earn the most points by seizing desert land on a 5-by-5 gird and scavenging the sand for Stars. In each round, you punch a Dice Block and can move the number of spaces on the die. If you cross a space controlled by an opponent, the spot transfers from his or her control to yours. Whoever controls the most spaces at the end of the game wins.

In the other game, Pen Pals, you will work together with another player to capture both members of a computer-controlled team. At the beginning of each round, you punch a Dice Block and can move the number of spaces on the die. Using lines that trail behind you, you and your partner will join together to box in and capture each foe.

Although some games limit multiplayer options, Mario Party DS expands them. An expanded multiplayer game set, loads of options and a full Mario Party DS multiplayer experience off just one Game Card will make Mario Party DS a must-have in your DS friend circle! -Nintendo
