Soomro assumes charge with 24 -member cabinet sworn in
16.11.2007 14:09:01 Chairman Senate Mohammedmian Soomro has sworn as the caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan today on friday as the National assembly has been dissolved.
(live-PR.com) - Chairman Senate Mohammedmian Soomro has been administered Oath of prime Minister ship by the President General Pervez Musharaff today on Friday at the Aiwan-e-Sadr presidential palace in the capital, Islamabad.as the national assembly has been dissolved on Thursday midnight,lower house of the parliament, and the government led by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz was dissolved on the completion of the five-year term.
Benazir Bhutto the former Prime Minister has been released from her house arrest for conduct to organize the long march from Lahore to Islamabad against the General's imposition of emergency in the country and nullifying the constitution of Pakistan with its replacement with Provisional Constitution Order.
Chairman Senate Soomro will continue to hold his post of chairmanship as he shall be on leave for sixty days,till election are completed.The swearing on ceremony was attended by veteran Leaders and stalwarts as the outgoing Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, former ministers, services chiefs and top civil and military officials.
Musharraf, dressed in a traditional black tunic,instead of army uniform said at the ceremony that "Today we are creating history because I think never has Pakistan seen such a smooth transition of government." Twenty four Cabinet ministers of the transition government were also sworn in during the same ceremony.
The members of new cabinet are: Shehzada Alam Mannun (a businessman), Saleem Abbas Jeelani (former secretary defence), Salman Taseer (former member of provincial assembly from Peoples Party), Abdullah Reyar (ex-Senator), Senator Nisar Memon (former information minister), Barrister Shahida Jameel (former Law Minister), Inamullah Khan (former foreign secretary), Ansar Burney (human rights activist), Abbas Sarfaraz (ex-minister), Syed Afzal Haider (ex-provincial minister), Salman Shah (ex-advisor to PM on economic affairs), Barrister Habib ur Rehman (legal expert), Ehsanullah Khan
(ex-provincial minister), Lala Nisar Khan Muhamamd Khan (ex-minister), Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif (legal expert), Shams Lakha, Syed Wajid H.Bukhari, Dr Faheem Ansari, Prince Esa Khan, Hamid Nawaz, Nisar Ghuman, Raja Tarey Dev Roy, Khwaja Attaullah Tunsavey and Sikandar Jogazai.
Prime Minister Soomro is from the family of Politicians of Sindh province and the family is serving the country from the year 1923.He is trusted and loyal to the General.
