Best Of Video Game Music Comes To Benaroya Hall

Conductor Arnie Roth will lead Seattle Symphony in a program for gamers and nostalgists alike as PLAY! A Video Game Symphony comes to Seattle for one night only, Thursday, January 24, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. This exciting program includes music from hit videogames Final Fantasy, The Legend Of Zelda, HALO, Super Mario Bros., Chrono Cross, Kingdom Hearts, Battlefield 1942, Sonic The Hedgehog and more.

The best of video game music will be performed by full orchestra and choir, bringing the sounds of these games to life with graphics and key gameplay sequences projected on screen above the orchestra. The show debuted to ecstatic audiences in Chicago, and has since been met by equally zealous crowds, selling out halls across the globe in cities such as Stockholm, Detroit, Philadelphia, Toronto, San Jose, Singapore, Olso and Sydney. A special highlight of the program has included appearances by many of the video game composers. Seattle Symphony will announce these appearances as they are confirmed.

Arnie Roth, Music Director and Principal Conductor of PLAY! A Video Game Symphony, will lead the two-hour musical extravaganza. "It's no secret among game lovers and connoisseurs of orchestral music that some of today's most thrilling scores are coming out of the video game genre. This spectacular concert speaks to the growing popularity and artistic sophistication of this form of entertainment and will attract people of all generations to some of the world's greatest concert halls," says Roth.

Roth is a Grammy Award–winning artist known for his work with performers such as Diana Ross, Charlotte Church, Peter Cetera, Art Garfunkel, the Irish Tenors and Dennis DeYoung. Roth has conducted the London Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony, the Atlanta Symphony, the Hollywood Bowl Philharmonic, the Dallas Symphony, the Houston Symphony and the BBC Symphony. Roth served as the Music Director and Conductor for Dear Friends, and More Friends Concerts–Music from Final Fantasy. He has produced and conducted music for many films, and has produced dozens of best-selling CDs, released on American Gramaphone, JVC, Mattel, Warner Bros., Sony, Koch, and Razor & Tie.
