
According to preliminary data from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia, the first eight months of the year recorded a total of 1,720,294 arrivals, representing a 1% increase over the same period last year, and 5,557,024 overnight stays, equaling last year's figures.
Domestic arrivals remained at the same level as last year with 596,005 guests, and the number of overnight stays has fallen by 1% to 2,324,868. However, there has been an increase in foreign tourist visits to Slovenia, representing 1,124,189 arrivals (2% more than the same period last year) and 3,232,156 overnight stays (1% more than last year).
The top five visitor nationalities by number of arrivals and overnight stays are Italians, Germans, Austrians, Croats and Britons. In the first eight months of the year Italians have made 3% more arrivals and 2% more overnight stays compared to the same period last year; Croatian visitors have increased by 7% and 8% respectively, and overall British statistics have increased by 1%. There has been a small reduction in Austrian tourism (of 1%) and Germans have made 10% fewer arrivals and 13% fewer overnight stays.
