Reka Network reports that "Prime Minister Ehud Olmert gave the green light for Palestinians to receive 50 armored vehicles as a goodwill gesture ahead of the Annapolis conference.
"The Russian-made vehicles are to be provided to the Palestinian Authority by Jordan and are to be used around the northern West Bank city of Nablus, where several hundred Palestinian police were deployed with Israeli approval, at the beginning of November.
"The Israel Security Agency (ISA) and army officials were opposed to the deliveries, fearing the material would fall into the hands of Hamas.
"The PA received similar armored vehicles that were deployed in the Gaza Strip after the Oslo Accords of 1993. They were destroyed by the Israel Air Force following the start of the second Palesitnian uprising in 2000."
