Musiwave And SFR Speed Ahead With Mobile Music

Reduction of Mobile Music Track from €1.99 to € .99

Musiwave, an Openwave company, and a leading provider of mobile music entertainment services to operators and media companies worldwide, and SFR, France's leading operator and affiliate of Vivendi and Vodafone, today announced that they are now delivering enhanced music offerings to their subscribers including per-track download times reduced by approximately 50%.

This reduction is made possible by Musiwave's implementation of Advanced Audio Coding format (AAC+) which enables faster mobile download speed and superior music sound quality for compliant handsets. Customers can now purchase entire albums from their mobile and the PC; albums download on the PC are powered by a download manager allowing a very simple user experience. Customers can also view streamed previews of songs and browse a catalogue of more than six hundred thousand (600,000) tracks via an optimized search engine. New bookmark functionality has been added to the service to allow multiple purchases within the same browsing session. These services reduce the number of clicks needed to access music content and help to increase usage and customer loyalty.

SFR has also cut its music download fees from €1.99 to €.99 per download and continues to offer its 'all you can eat' full track download service, allowing users access to all the music their phones can hold for €14.90 per month.

All these service improvements are meant to help triple transactions from 300,000 downloads to 1 million downloads per month.

"Musiwave's enhanced services offer an exceptional mobile music experience by enabling customers to more quickly download their favorite songs," said Guillaume Decugis, vice president of operations, Musiwave. "These features will contribute significantly to driving increased mobile downloads across SFR's customer base."

"SFR continues to work with Musiwave to provide our subscribers unrivalled access to the latest music content," said Frederic Plais, head of music services, SFR. "Musiwave's recent technology enhancements further reinforce our shared commitment to giving our subscribers a high quality mobile music experience."

Musiwave provides mobile music entertainment services to over 35 mobile operators in 25 countries including Vodafone, T-Mobile, Telefonica, Orange, SFR and Amena. Musiwave's current roster of products includes Music on Demand Service (MODSâ„¢), a full track mobile music subscription offering; which allows fast, full-length secure downloads of music directly to 3G mobile devices; Smart Radio, an interactive and personalized streaming radio solution; and Music Wizardâ„¢, which enables users to identify a song in just a few seconds using their mobile phone.
