If the drug industry ever discovers a pharmaceutical weight-loss pill that produces significant weight loss, and is safe to use, it could be extremely profitable to them and that is why they keep on with the search.
It is, however, unnecessary to search for such a 'magic' pill. There is already a completely safe, extremely effective, reliable and fast way to lose excess weight without using drugs at all. All that is necessary is to give up dieting and calorie-counting, and instead concentrate on avoiding salt and salty food. This is because obesity is not caused by over-eating, but by fluid retention, caused in turn by sensitivity to salt/sodium. Everyone who is obese is suffering from fluid retention, even if they do not know that they are. If they reduce their salt intake they will lose some of the excess sodium held in their body, along with the water that sodium attracts to itself. This excess fluid (salt water) will be excreted in their urine. And since water is heavy, their weight loss will be appreciable.
By reducing salt intake, overweight people not only lose excess weight easily, they also lower high blood pressure, reduce any high cholesterol problem, reduce their risk of heart disease or heart attack, reduce their risk developing type 2 diabetes, dementia, stroke and most cancers, and experience a multitude of other health benefits.
If you are overweight you will already have discovered that dieting does not work and robs you of your energy. I hope you now understand why this is: eating less food does not reduce fluid retention, which is what you need to reduce in order to lose excess weight.
You may think that what I say is nonsense: we have all been conditioned to believe that reducing calories is the way to lose weight. But the calorie theory of how to lose excess weight has never been put to the test. It does not involve drugs so it has not been subjected to clinical trials. If it were to be scientifically tested it would be clear beyond doubt to everyone that the theory is incorrect and has been merely a simplistic assumption made by arrogant 'experts', with no evidence to support it.
Contrast this with cutting down on sodium intake. There is abundant scientific research that shows that this results in water loss. If you are overweight and give up dieting, and instead cut down on salt and salty food, you will notice weight loss within days, and you will feel so much better and have more energy. Why not try it? You have nothing to lose but your excess pounds.
