Both parents donate kidneys to their sick daughter

Keeley Beytell-Heron, who was the youngest baby ever to have a kidney transplant, is now 20 years old. Her first transplanted kidney was gradually rejected by her body and at 12 she was given one of her mother's kidneys. Now that it too is failing, her father is going to give her one of his.

Dialysis would be very difficult because of Keeley's particular health problems and that is why her parents each decided to donate one of their kidneys to her, and fortunately they were each found to be good matches.

Keeley's case is exceptional, but in general if you want to prevent kidney impairment, go easy on the salt shaker. High sodium intake can damage kidneys and can damage your heart, liver and blood vessels too.
