Firefighters Free Fat Woman Stuck in Bath

Rosemarie Batey, 49, who weighs 22 stone, was taking a midnight shower when she slipped and became wedged after a crack in the bath gave way.

Her son did not hear her cries until the morning, when he rang 999. The fire service arrived within an hour to help her, and used an electronic saw to cut away the bath.

After her embarrassing and painful experience, Mrs Batey has vowed to lose seven stone (98 pounds). I very much doubt that she will be able to lose much weight, however, since she will probably be trying to do so by eating less food and trying to take more exercise, and unfortunately this does not result in weight loss.

Obesity is caused by fluid retention in people who are sensitive to salt. These people tend to retain excess salt in the body along with the water that always accompanies it. The vulnerable groups of people who are sensitive to salt include steroid victims, that is people who have become morbidly obese as a result of taking prescribed steroids like prednisone, prednisolone or HRT, and other people made morbidly obese by other prescription drugs including anti-psychotics and tricyclic anti-depressants like amitriptyline. Pregnancy also can cause salt sensitivity, as can eating a lot of salt and salty food as a child.

Whatever the cause of the fluid retention, the way to reduce it is to cut down on salt/sodium. This is the safe, sure way to lose weight. To lose weight even faster, eat plenty of fruit and unsalted vegetables as these are high in potassium, which displaces some of the excess sodium and its attendant water.
