Owners of UK's Pinewood Studios Propose £200m Expansion

A 100 acre extension to Pinewood Studios would enable permanent film lots including a permanent Venice canal, a Parisian square and New York apartments.

It is hoped also to set up an on-site academy to train set-designers and costume-makers, and there are plans for 1,400 flats for workers to live on set.

During two years of planning there has been some opposition from residents in nearby Buckinghamshire villages so an intended 'Italian' lake and a medieval castle have had to be dropped.

Pinewood has a long history in film-making, including the Carry On series, Mamma Mia! and The Dark Knight.
