Carolyn Kuan To Lead Seattle Orchestra

Seattle Symphony Orchestra invites you to attend its Holiday Musical Salute presented by the Seattle Symphony Volunteers on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 11 a.m. at the Washington State Convention & Trade Center Ballroom. This seasonal fundraising event includes a hot cider reception, followed by a luncheon and Seattle Symphony performance featuring 13-year old talent Marié Rossano.

This special opening to the holiday season benefits the Seattle Symphony Players’ Pension Plan and is sponsored by Mercer.

Associate Conductor Carolyn Kuan will lead the Symphony in seasonal favorites, including Tchaikovsky’s Waltz of the Flowers from The Nutcracker and Henri Wieniawski’s Allegro con fuoco from his second violin concerto, among other exciting works.

Marié Rossano debuted with Seattle Symphony in October 2007 as a winner of the Seattle Symphony Young Artists Invitational. She made her debut with Philharmonia Northwest in 2005, and has since performed with the Bellevue Philharmonic Orchestra, Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra, Federal Way Symphony and Seattle Chamber Music Society.

Marié studies under Simon James, Seattle Symphony’s Second Assistant Concertmaster, and is an active musician at the Academy of Music Northwest, coached by Brianna Atwell, and in the AMN Academy Chamber orchestra, conducted by Alan Futterman. She has been the first or alternate winner of various music competitions, including the Performing Arts Festival Eastside, Marjorie Easley Young Musicians Competition, Seattle Young Artists Music Festival, Simon-Fiset String Competition, Washington State Music Teachers Association Competition and Young Artist Debut Concert Competition. -- www.seattlesymphony.org
