Long Wharf Theatre Celebrates Hughes' Black Nativity

Long Wharf Theatre, under the leadership of Artistic Director Gordon Edelstein and Managing Director Joan Channick, presents the return of Black Nativity Dec. 7-9, 14-16.

Black Nativity features a choir uniting singers from the all over the Greater New Haven area. This joyous event tells the powerful story of the birth of Jesus through rousing Gospel music and inspiring poetry of celebrated African-American writer Langston Hughes.

Black Nativity returns for the fourth year with director Sarah Peterson, musical direction by Jonathan Q. Berryman, and its acclaimed cast including Harriett Alfred, Erik P. Brown, Rasheem Dixon, Regina T. Edwards, Richard Ford, and Dana Elizabeth Fripp.

Black Nativity will be performed at Long Wharf Theatre's C. Newton Schenck Mainstage on the following schedule: December 7, 8 pm; December 8, 3 pm and 8 pm; December 9, 7 pm; December 14, 8 pm; December 15, 3 pm and 8 pm and December 16 at 7 PM. -- www.longwharf.org
