Gresha also has a social conscience and is passionate about social justice. She was recently appointed Sri Lanka's 'Ambassador for Autism,' by the Autism Awareness Campaign UK and Sri Lanka. There are 39,000 children with autism in the island of Sri Lanka - many struggle without proper public services in education, health, specialist speech therapy and respite care. Grsha Schuilling is already raising greater awareness of the condition, back in Sri Lanka.
Ivan Corea, Head of the Autism Awareness Campaign UK told the music media in London: 'Gresha Schuilling is a huge talent. I am sure she will be a worthy Ambassador for Autism. She has pledged to raise the profile of all people with autism and Asperger's Syndrome in Sri Lanka. She is Sri Lanka's sensation, a new star. I wish her well, we are certainly going to hear a lot more about Gresha Schuilling in the music world,'he said.
Her Christmas single, 'Cold Cold Night, was written by the highly acclaimed Sri Lanka born singer/songwriter Nimal Mendis and his son Paul Marie Mendis. The songwriting duo live in the United Kingdom and run Media Eye Music. Gresha Schuilling was 'discovered' by Nimal Mendis. He recorded 22 songs, many of them for the Decca Label in London in the 1960s and 1970s. Nimal Mendis, along with singer Sandra Edema, appeared on BBC TV's 'Top of the Pops' television program in 1968 singing their hit 'Feel Like A Clown.' Mendis decided to give Gresha Schuilling his composition, 'Cold Cold Night.' He now has a Christmas hit on his hands. The BBC said that Gresha Schuilling was attempting to claim the Number One spot in the Christmas Charts.
Schuilling who was educated in Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka is a musical powerhouse - she has a strong melodic voice, the looks, the talent and the intelligence to become a superstar. All she now needs is a recording contract in the United Kingdom or the United States. She has got what it takes to become a global pop star.
'Cold Cold Night' is doing well in the United Kingdom. Media Eye Music in London has been inundated with requests for more information on the Sri Lankan musician. Gresha Schuilling was also featured in the highly respected international music website, World Music Central who said she has the 'potential to become a huge international star.'
