Founded in Salzburg, Austria in 1913, the Salzburg Marionette Theatre has enchanted children and adults with puppetry performances of Mozart’s opera masterpieces, intricately crafted marionettes and lavish, fairy-tale like settings. Now, the greatest marionette theatre in the world takes on the world's most beloved musical, The Sound of Music.
The Salzburg Marionettes perform to a soundtrack featuring the voices of Broadway stars Christiane Noll, Martin Vidnovic and Lancaster's own Jonathan Groff (Broadway: Spring Awakening; Fulton & US Tour: The Sound of Music; Fulton: Cyrano, Peter Pan) as the voice of Rolf.
"It is a bit of scheduling serendipity that we were able to book this amazing troupe," says Fulton Managing Director Aaron Young. "The Salzburg Marionettes happened to have a week between their bookings at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia and an engagement in Baltimore. We are proud to be able to bring these extraordinary performers to Fulton audiences."
Performances are November 13th through 16th at 7 p.m. at the Fulton Theatre, 12 North Prince Street in Downtown Lancaster. Ticket prices are $35 for Orchestra and Parquet Circle, $30 for Mezzanine, and $20 for Gallery seating. -- www.atthefulton.org
