Rodney King who caught international attention in 1991, after LAPD officers brutally beat him on video tape, was shot last night on his way home receiving minor injuries.
King had been riding his bike to his Rialto residence when blasts from a shot gun were fired resulting in minor injuries to King’s face, back and upper torso.
"He had some minor pepper wounds that looked like they were from bird shot," Sgt. Don Lewis told the LA Times. He said the injuries were "extremely minor."
Lewis told the Times that King was intoxicated when area police arrived at his home, and was uncooperative. It is not clear who fired the shot and the case has been handed over to San Bernandino police.
King was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries. He has had several run ins with the police including a call for domestic violence since the famous beating that set off city wide riots.
