McCain, "Failure in Iraq"

The nationally televised Republican You Tube Debate that aired last night felt more like a boxing match from all the verbal uppercuts that the candidates were throwing out to one another. In midst of all the chaos Sen. John McCain let three words slip out that luckily only a few people heard ,"Failure in Iraq".

The second question turned out to be a slugfest between Romney and Giuliani from the start. It ended with the former mayor accusing Romney of hiring illegal immigrants, which turned out to be partly true. Romney then defended himself by saying that Americans should not have to ask to see the I.D of a person just because they talk with an accent or look different.

After the moderator had put a stop to the verbal battle between the two top candidates, a new video question began to play. The question asked which candidate would pledge to veto any bill which provided amnesty illegal immigrants. Senator Fred Thompson was the first to answer, he replied with yes. He also added that he would cut funding to any city which fits the criteria of a sanctuary city. After a brief response by Giuliani, Sen. McCain was asked the same question. He said,
“We said we would enforce our borders, but the American people didnt believe us." He went on to say. "They don’t believe us because of our failure in Katrina, our failure in Iraq."

McCain has been one of the strongest supporters of the war since the beginning. When asked in the same night what he would do to restore America's image in the war he said, “The surge is working, we are winning in Iraq." He just committed the same type of error that Republicans have been blasting Hillary Clinton about. Even with her shaky performances she still leads the pack, and if republicans do not get their act together she will be sitting in the Oval Office next year.
