Join the musicians of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra for a ravishing performance of some of the most beautiful French music at the Victoria Concert Hall on December 16, conducted by French maestro Alain Pâris.
Jazz up your Sunday afternoon with Darius Milhaud’s La création du monde - a piece that best demonstrates the composer’s fascination with jazz – and immerse in Charles Gounod’s Petite Symphonie pour instruments à vent, an elegant and sweet work scored for wind octet with added flute. Also featuring Ibert’s Divertissement as well as Mouvements Perpetuels by Poulenc.
Alain Pâris started his conducting career after he won first prize in the 1968 Besançon International Competition for Conductors. He was assistant conductor to Michel Plasson at the Capitole Theatre and Orchestra in Toulouse, and conductor at the Opéra du Rhin in Strasbourg from 1983 to 1987. He is also a producer on France Musique (Radio France). -- www.sso.org.sg
