Given a choice to call anyone, most Americans choose talk show queen, according to TheImproper.com (www.theimproper.com)
NEW YORK (TheImproper.com)--She can turn obscure books into instant best sellers; she can rocket a political candidate (Barak Obama) ahead in the polls with a warm embrace. And if Americans could call anyone over Christmas, it would be Oprah, according to a new poll.
Embarq Corp., a Kansas communications services company asked 1,000 Americans who they would call over Christmas, if they could get an open line to anyone. World leaders to plead for peace? Bill Gates to discuss technology? Nope. Of those polled, 15 percent chose Oprah, besting the 11 percent who said they would call second place finisher President Bush. Also on the list Martha Stewart
Here’s a shocker. Of all the presidential candidates whom they would like to hear from, Hilary Rodham Clinton beat Obama, Rudy Giuliani, Fred Thompson, John McCain and John Edwards. One quarter of those polled (25%) said they would like to call and invite her to dinner.
Now here’s the weirdest twist. When asked who they would most like to get an overview of world events from, those polled picked… Ellen DeGeneres! Katie Couric finished second, ahead of Anderson Cooper and Larry King. But what would they say? It’s hard to know. The poll failed to ask that question.
