San Diego Chorus To Perform At Community Events

The Gay Men’s Chorus of San Diego will perform at a pair of upcoming community events to help everyone ring in the holiday season. GMCSD will sing selections from its holiday concert “Bells & Brass” which will be held on December 15 and 16. Both events are free and open to the public.

On Saturday, December 1, the Gay Men’s Chorus will once again participate in Mama’s Kitchen’s 16th annual Tree of Life Lighting Ceremony.

This local observance of World AIDS Day, an international day of remembrance for those who have been affected by AIDS, celebrates the progress made against the epidemic while also bringing into focus the remaining challenges. Ornaments will be available and can be personalized with a message honoring a relative, friend, or loved one who has been affected by AIDS. Proceeds from ornament sales benefit Mama's Kitchen while the trees and their commemorative ornaments will be on display throughout December.

The Tree of Life Lighting Ceremony is hosted by Mama's Kitchen and Village Hillcrest, and will take place beginning at 6:00 pm at the Village Hillcrest Retail Center, 3965 Fifth Avenue, in the heart of Hillcrest.

The following Saturday, December 8, the Chorus will perform as part of Balboa Park December Nights. San Diego’s favorite kick-off to the holiday season will take place for the 30th consecutive year and features sparkling lights, theatrical and musical entertainment, and exotic food/spirits throughout the Park. The largest free community festival in San Diego, December Nights is expected to attract more than 300,000 visitors over two days. -- www.gmcsd.com
