San Diego Chorus Rings In Holidays

The Gay Men’s Chorus of San Diego will wrap up its successful 15th Anniversary Season of Singing Out with its annual holiday concerts. “Bells & Brass,” which features the 75-member Chorus accompanied by brass ensemble and handbell choir, will be presented on Saturday, December 15, at 8 pm and again on Sunday, December 16, at 2 pm.

Both performances will take place inside the beautiful Sherwood Auditorium, Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, at 700 Prospect Street in La Jolla. The Gay Men’s Chorus is sure to make you smile as it performs such seasonal selections as “Christmas is Delicious” and “Variations on ‘Jingle Bells.’” Everyone present will want to sing along to festive favorites like “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen” and “Sleigh Ride.”

And GMCSD’s rendition of “Oseh Shalom,” the traditional Hebrew prayer for peace, will be a timely reminder of the real reason for this special season. No Chorus concert would be complete without lots of laughs.

So when “A Night Before Christmas, Revisited” is performed by GMCSD’s special guests, the students at Miss Twinkleton’s School for Sensitive Boys – all of them clamoring for that magic wand – you might not believe what happens next! Audience members are encouraged to arrive early for the Fourth Annual Holiday Wreath Silent Auction which will include wreaths handmade by Gay Men’s Chorus members and/or donated by local businesses. Other available items will include luxury hotel stays, theatre tickets, spa packages, and more.

GMCSD’s Auction will allow everyone to scratch a few fabulous gifts off their holiday shopping lists. Tickets are $35 for Saturday evening’s performance and just $30 for the Sunday matinée, with discounts available for seniors, students, and military. Special prices are also available for groups and GMCSD’s 15th Anniversary Season Subscribers. -- www.gmcsd.com
