As previously announced on October 10, 2007, Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. (TSE) has begun calculating and publishing new sector indices, the ”TOPIX-17 Series,” starting on December 10, 2007.
The ”TOPIX-17 Series” is based on the current 33 sectors comprised of constituents of the TOPIX index, consolidating them into a group of 17 new indices.
They are expected to be utilized to analyze trends in specific industries and also as underlying indices for financial products such as exchange traded funds in the future. -- www.tse.or.jp
