
Brother Industries, Ltd. (President Toshikazu Koike) is pleased to announce that, in 2008, the Brother Group will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of its business foundation.
In commemoration of this milestone, Brother Industries, Ltd. will be carrying out various activities, through which they hope to extend their gratitude for their stakeholders and expand its business further for the next 100 years.
The commemorative activities that will be taking place include social contribution activities, such as tree planting, and expansion of Brother Communication Space, the group’s exhibition facility.
Main Activities Held in Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary
1.Social Contribution Activities (1) Tree Planting in the City of Gujo, Gifu Prefecture, Japan
Brother Industries, Ltd. is introducing the “Eco Point Program,” in which the company’s employees and their family members can earn points for environmental activities that they conduct and redeem them for tree donation. The donated tress will be planted in Gujo City, Gifu, contributing to environmental conservation effort of the local community.
* Brother Industries, Ltd. will be exhibiting at Eco Products 2007, Japan’s largest environmental product exhibition that will be held from Dec. 13, 2007 to Dec. 15, 2007 in Tokyo. At Eco Products 2007, visitors to Brother booth can also participate in the Eco Points Program and earn points for tree donation.
(2) Support Programs for Young Entrepreneurs
In order to support young entrepreneurs in the Tokai Area, Japan, who are actively engaged in activities such as revitalization of local communities, Brother Industries, Ltd. will sponsor NPOs assisting young entrepreneurs and offer various support programs, which include conveyance of know-how needed to start up a business and donation of Brother products.
2.Expansion of Brother Communication Space Brother Industries Ltd. will expand Brother Communication Space (BCS), the Brother Group’s showroom in Nagoya City, Japan, which showcases the group’ s history, Brother today and its future, in order to open a new exhibition space for sewing machines, the origin of Brother’s business. The sewing machine exhibition will be designed to illustrate Brother’s spirit of manufacturing that has been inherited through its 100 years of history.
3.The Launch of The 100th Anniversary Logo and Change of Brother Logo with a Corporate Message
The Brother Group has launched the 100th Anniversary logo, which reflects Brother’s future business growth and its wish to continue manufacturing products that provide superior value to customers. The group will also make a change on its logo with a corporate message, At your side, in commemoration of the 100th anniversary.
4.Operational Launch of a New R&D Facility The Brother Group will open a new research and development facility in Nagoya City, Japan, in January 2008 to strengthen its capacity for technology development in the new business areas and other fields.
