Even though the numbers look pretty equal, taking Florida Atlantic over Memphis in tonight's college bowl because FAU has played tough against a much more difficult schedule, 4 ranked teams.

I also like this bit from the ESPN preview:

"Our goals were to win our conference and beat one of the big teams out of the conference. And we did both of that," FAU quarterback Rusty Smith said. "We made it to a bowl game. This is simply just additional stuff."

Smith was the Sun Belt player of the year, having led the conference with 3,352 passing yards and a school-record 27 touchdowns while throwing only eight interceptions. The redshirt sophomore set a school record with 463 passing yards and five TDs in a Sept. 15 victory over Big Ten foe Minnesota."

So I really like not only the QB's TD to interceptions ratio, but also that he doesn't talk too pretty. The mark of a great football player lol. I think they win by 21. Go FAU!

Re tomorrow's three bowl games, BYU (-6.5) will blow out UCLA. They beat on all the numbers. BYU scores points much more easily.

Liking Nevada vs New Mexico, Nevada has a stronger passing and rushing game. And getting 3 points?! (Presumably because it's a home game for UNM in Albuquerque?) Take the team with the points and the offense!

You'd think Cincy would steamroll Southern Miss but since the spread is troublesome (-11.5) I'm leaving it alone.

Also not betting the Saturday NFL game. Sure the Cowboys will beat the Panthers, but with the spread at -10.5, I think I'll stick to the college action. If Dallas was up by 10 in the 4th quarter and just sat on the ball and ran the clock out, that would be hugely frustrating.

So FAU, BYU and Nevada to win, just watching Cincy and Cowboys for funsies. - By Contrary Canary Blog.
