Britons want Prince William as King of England, not Charles

More than half of the people interviewed in a survey opined this view.

There seems to be a ‘Royal’ crisis in England over the next heir to the throne after Queen Elizabeth II steps down.

In the poll conducted, a majority of Britons voiced their wish to see Prince William take over the stately duty of ruling the country instead of his father Prince Charles.

Almost 51% of the ones interviewed expressed their desire to have William’s girlfriend Kate Middleton as a worthy addition to the royal family.

While support for Queen Elizabeth II remains strong, 81 per cent feel that she should consider stepping down in the near future.

The poll was conducted on over a thousand people to mark the launch of Discovery Channel’s History Night.

It has revealed that 42% think the Duchess of Cornwall is a good ambassador for the Royals, while 68 per cent were in favor of Princess Diana.

BBC correspondent Jennie Bond who was in supervision of the Discovery poll said that Camilla is facing struggle for public acceptance and that Prince Charles seems to be having an image problem.

He expressed that although he can be the best heir to the throne, but the masses seem reluctant to accept him as their King. - DDNEWS
