
Italian Finance Minister Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa says he favours Air France-KLM's bid to take over the national carrier Alitalia.
He says the exclusive takeover of Alitalia by Air-France-KLM talks will take eight weeks.
The Italian government owns nearly 50 percent of Alitalia's stocks and has the last word in the matter. Last week Alitalia's directors announced that they were in favour of an Air France-KLM takeover.
The Franco-Dutch company plans to invest 6.5 billion euros in Alitalia in the long run. - The news is presented by Radio Netherlands.
