A new voice recording attributed to al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden has appeared on the internet.
In it he says that the United States wants to form a unified national government in Iraq to take control of the country's oil supplies and set up military bases to dominate the region. Mr bin Laden also calls on Iraqis to resist a government supported by the US.
The recording, which has appeared on various Arabic websites, lasts almost an hour. At no point does it address the Pakistani government's accusation that al-Qaeda is responsible for the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. This would tend to suggest that the recording was made before her murder.
