TELUS, its team members and alumni donated $5.5 million this year to more than 2,800 charities across Canada as part of the Team TELUS Cares charitable giving program.

Through this program, TELUS team members and alumni can choose to make a donation through payroll and pension deduction to more than 45,000 eligible registered Canadian charities. TELUS matches donations to these charities dollar for dollar.

"At TELUS, as individuals and as a team, we have the power to change the lives of those less fortunate," said Nick Culo, vice-president, TELUS Public and Community Affairs. "The Team TELUS Cares program is a great example of how we give where we live to the benefit of many worthwhile causes in the community."

Some examples of charities chosen for support this year by TELUS team members are the Canadian Cancer Society, BC Children's Hospital Foundation and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

Overall since 2000, TELUS and its team members have contributed more than $91 million to charitable and non-profit organizations and volunteered more than 1.7 million hours of service to local communities. On September 29, 2007, the TELUS team held its second annual TELUS Day of Service. On this one special day, more than 6,000 team members, alumni, family and friends gave more than 18,000 hours of community service to 225 TELUS-sponsored charitable activities across Canada. -- www.cnxmarketlink.com
