Set your gaming goals for 2008

A new year always gives a person a chance at a fresh start and a chance for you to challenge yourself in new ways. Your gaming life is not immune to this new start. In fact, a new year is like pressing the Reset button. For those looking for new gaming challenges, we suggest 10 to get you started on your path to a new gaming you!

10. Get that DS Brain Age down to 20
Sorry, but a Brain Age of 30 is so last year. Twenty is the new 30, don’t you know? Grab your stylus and your copy of Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training and get to work. Once you hit that beautiful Brain Age of 20, then you’re easily ready for the challenge of More Brain Training from Dr. Kawashima. New game, new challenges.

9. Make an influential Mii
Synergy is the trick to being a complete gamer. Miis help bring out your creative side. They’re a blank canvas - clay waiting for you to mould it into your masterpiece. Your resources are only limited to your imagination. Make a Mii in the Mii Channel and then post it to the Mii Contest Channel. The critics of the world are ready to be influenced!

8. Gain some weight
Don’t be mistaken. Bigger is better…when it comes to your brain, of course. Big Brain Academy for Wii has clean and balanced scales, now they need your brain. Take the test and set a goal of earning a brain weight of 2000g. Are you stuck in the 1400s? Get some reps in. You won’t earn Big Brain mass without some training.

7. Gold is nice, Platinum is better
Wii Sports is lots of fun to play with others, but it offers individual challenges as well. The game’s 15 Training challenges are a great way to polish your Wii Sports skills to prepare you for that next match against someone who thinks they can’t be beaten. You can earn medals in each Training activity so make it a goal to earn a Platinum medal in at least one activity.

6. Go and put Stars in your eyes
You don’t need to find every Star to “finish” Super Mario Galaxy. You only need to find about half of the Stars, but half shouldn’t be good enough for you. Would you only paint half of your bedroom and call it good? You have to go all the way. Finish the job and find all 120 Stars. OK, that’s setting your sights really high. How about making it your goal to get 100 Stars? Well, you decide. Fact is, 60 isn’t enough.

5. Find the Ducks and make them fall
In Wii Play’s Shooting Range, the ultimate target is the duck. Picking off ducks is the quickest way to rack up big points. To reach your 2008 goal of a gold medal, you’ll need lots and lots of points so get a jump on those ducks. When you hear a dog’s bark, be ready to zap our flying, feathered friends.

4. Crowning achievements
For some people, medals of various metals - precious and common - are not enough. They shoot for something a little bigger: a crown. That’s the case in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. If a character can win gold medals in all events, that character is awarded a crown. Try to earn a crown for a character that has an extreme attribute. Bowser, for example, has basically no speed but lots of power. Can you earn him a crown?

3. Sail the sea in style
When Link takes to the high seas in The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, he’s always travelling in some rickety, piece-together boat. You owe it to him to sail like the high-rolling saviour of Hyrule that he is. Make it your quest to collect the eight parts that make up the Golden Ship. Collecting each part is expensive, but don’t you think you’re worth it?

2. Complete a nautical photo album
Maybe 2008 is your year to start a new hobby as an adventurous underwater photographer. Time to try something new, right? In Endless Ocean for Wii, you’re given a photo album, a camera and a helpful hand overboard. To fill the photo album, you’ll need to capture snapshots of 214 different sea inhabitants. It’s OK to come up for air once in a while, but photographing all the marine life would be an amazing accomplishment.

1. Always be prepared to set new goalsWith such great games like Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure, and Advance Wars: Dark Conflict coming in 2008, don’t delay in fulfilling your gaming goals. A new challenge always awaits.-Nintendo
