
The average annual temperature rose by 1.5 degrees Celsius last year according to latest statistics. Across the globe, 2007 is predicted to be the fifth warmest year on record since measuring began in 1880.
A study published in Nature by researchers at Stockholm’s University also showed a phenomenon that they have discovered in the Arctic where the air temperature was found to be warmer than the land. They believe that this may explain the new circulation pattern in the atmosphere.
In related news, one of the worlds most renowned climate scientists, Professor Bert Bolin has passed away at the age of 82.
