The man who America is not particularly interested in electing president doesn't really want the job, anyway. And while it's possible he's just playing hard-to-get, statements like this one the other day aren't helping:
"I'm not particularly interested in running for president..."
- Fred Thompson
He defends his remark, saying it's out-of-context, but who would go into an interview and tell the employer that they hated the process that goes along with getting hired?

It's not the reporters, the story is from the Democratic party, don't you see the source? But there is a link there, which gives reference on what Fred Thompson said.
#3 The outright failure of our system of education
Who cooks up this bilge, anyway? Come on, now, let's read it out loud, slowly: he said that he is "not-particularly-interested-in-running-for-president" (hyphens added to assist the mouth-breathers). The faithful scribe who somehow originated this headline article (making me think about the "if you gave a million monkeys a million typewriters" adage) managed to extrapolate these words into meaning that Mr. Thompson doesn't want the job. Sorry, but there's not a trace of logical continuity there.
In my opinion, Mr. Thompson wants to, must, and will be president. He merely doesn't care for the majestic spectacle of the campaign process. The also-rans don't have this (non-) problem; they seem to love it, even live for it. How long has that one woman been campaigning? Probably for the past 15 or 20 years. That doesn't make her fit for the task, but try telling her that.
As for the "who would go into an interview" question, well, an honest person might be sufficiently forthright to tell the potential employer that "I'm you're guy/gal, and we can cut straight to the chase with no further waste of time, no discussion of 'inclusion' or quotas or anything of that nature". In Mr. Thompson's case, the die has been cast, and he'll begin work on January 20, 2009.
