All you need to know to plan your adventure travel is to search for the right info and link them together. Then build your mind map of what you'll do.
The requisites you'll need are a time, patience and a good knowledge of internet.
Below the 5 points to consider while planning a tour and a guide to identify the key elements.
1. First of all you'll need to know what type of activity you'll practice.
The main "Adventurous" are Backpacking, Hiking, mountain biking, Diving-scuba, Ecotourism or Skiing.
Know what type of activity to practice it's a good thing to start searching for info related to the availability, training, skills, risks and the best period when practice it.
2. Once you've decided what activity, it's time to choose where practice that activity.
There are common rules to follow like asking friends, choosing a random place in the world map, receive advices from a travel agent, search on the net for tips or ideas.
3. The next step is to find detailed info on the destination.
You could read detailed magazines, guide books or websites. While reading be sure to understand key points like:
* Communications and Public transports
* Documents requested
* Health and Safety
* Weather
* Terrain conditions
The general rule I follow is to search on youtube.com for some videos or trips notes to have a clear view of what it will be.
Another good tip is to find real travellers advices from Forum and Review websites.
4. It's the turn of your backpack. You'll have to plan what type of accessories, gear and clothing you'll need to carry with you.
Having and heavy back pack is not a good thing. So be sure to control if you can buy something locally (see gear rentals, etc...).
Be sure to pack at least this essential list of accessories:
* Anti-bacterial cream
* Anti-diarrhea medicine
* Batteries
* Walking shoes
* Bug repellent
* Gloves
* Hat
* Rain poncho
* Socks
* Torch
5. If you'll travel to a remote destination or what to feel more safe, You could contact a local agent to help you organize the tour.
Here some tips to find the right one:
* See how much detailed are their trips dossier
* See if they respect the Ecotourism standards
* Have a direct contact: chat, mail
* Search on popular travel website if they had bad reviews
By following these 5 steps You will save time and money, so prepare your pack and enjoy your next vacation!
Making Choices
There are some good suggestions here. But what colleagues and I have seen tracking tourism the past two decades is that usually people choose where they want to go first and then the activity. There are some pure ecotourists, just the way there are those whose focus is golf or skiing, but 90% of the time 'place' rules as the determining factor of travel planning.
