The media had reports that Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd. may get pan-India mobile license and may develop its land in Mumbai.
The National Stock Exchange Of India, in order to verify the accuracy or otherwise of the information reported in the media and to inform the market place so that the interest of the investors is safeguarded, had written to the officials of the company.
Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd. has vide its letter inter-alia stated," We have not provided any such information as given in the media. Decisions regarding pan-India mobile licence, are within the purview of licensing authority i.e Deptt. of Telecom, Govt. of India. As regards development of company's land in Mumbai it is stated that the company is engaged in ongoing development work and as soon as any specific major development reaches the takeoff stage, relevant information shall be provided at the appropriate time." -- www.nseindia.com
