I went to school in Arlington and know most of the people there. A real redneck dump.

The truth is Mayor Gronquist brought the budget back in line after the previous administration got the city caught up in owning a golf course.

So the new mayor fired a couple of folks, made a few decisions that needed to be made.

Then, in typical small town fashion, someone dug up some myspace photos from BEFORE her mayorship. Not even all that big a deal.

Arlington's had drug abusers, alcoholics, adulterers etc. as its mayor. The previous mayor used to sell pot a few years back.

No one dug up their past.

Small town idiocy at its finest.

What amazing small town nonsense!! So the mayor is a hotty - so what? She's gorgeous and she's got a brain - they should be honored to have her be the mayor. I hear she has done good thing for the town - they should look at that and cool their righteous jets. You go girl - Carmen - I'd vote for you in a heartbeat!!

It's not so much that this woman displays suggestive photos of herself on an internet site, or even that she holds political office while doing so, but what is most distasteful about Carmen Kontur-Gronquist's tale is her response to the residents of Arlington.

"I'm not going to change who I am," she said. "There's a lot of officials that have a personal life, and you have people in this community who have nothing better to do than scrape up stuff like this."

This complete lack of empathy or diplomacy is what disturbs me. She fails to realize that it's these very same people "who have nothing better to do", that voted her into office and entrust her with the decisions of their town. To respond so bluntly and with no discretion is in rather poor taste and you can bet she's bought herself a ticket out of the next race.

But what does that matter to her? Once she's no longer mayor she can pose for and post unlimited photos of her half-clad self and no one will as much as blink. So it all works out at the end, doesn't it?

I drive I-84 a lot, and Arlington is a normal stop for me. Fuel, snacks, lunch, dinner, etc.. Disappointed that I never got to see this young lady, even fully clothed. I hope the locals get over it as I would like to continue my weekly practice of spending $$ there.

And.... Redneck is a good term in my book. Eastern Oregon Farmer, been there/done that, but not a prude.

I think she can do what she wants to do. She is very sexy and should use it to her advantage.If i was not married i would ask her out!

Lorena Woods, if anyone should be investigated it should be her (Loren Woods) I lived in Arlington and my children went to the Arlington school. Believe me what exactly was Lorena Woods doing taking the best football players to watch hockey games. Lorena Woods is suppose to be a teacher, I would like to ask how may teachers aids dose a teacher need to teach 28 kids. the day i was there she had five. Lorena Woods should keep her mouth shut. I tried to get some one to do something with this woman years ago and to check the school out. Were but Arlington Oregon can you have a music teacher marry a student and still have a teaching career, because he is related?

Lorena if you think Carmen did such a bad thing by posting her photo's on My Space ( the most important word being My) then what do you think the resident's of Arlington should do with you for taking your 8th grade class to Hooters? Ye with-out sin cast the first stone. If you spent have as much time helping your students instead of being of the mentality of their age group and gossiping among the students effecting the lives of these student to the point of suicide then you might be more effetive in these young peoples lives. Yes I said suicide, you know what I;m talking about. Shame on you for being one of the problems in theses students lives instead of helping solve their problems. You should not be a teacher. In face I wouldn't trust you to care for my dog.

Okay so a beautiful woman does something in her private life that is not against the law and posts some pictures that may be a little revealing but look at her. Don't you think that if you looked that good you would at somepoint want to show someone, she is single and she is honest about the pictures, who cares!!! Is she a good Mayor? A good person? Because to be honest with you I like the fact that she isn't afraid to show off her assets physically, who cares this isn't even an issue, you people in that town should be happy and proud of her, who heard of PODUNK Arlington before this. Out of the 500 people in your town this is the biggest issue you can find to compalain about, in my town we have Meth, gangs and a Mayor you wouldn't want to see in a T-shirt and Shorts let alone in his underwear.
